What is Performance Art
A one-off evening where artists and researchers perform their answers on a round stage.
For this event, we chose the ouroboros—the snake that holds its tail in its mouth—to symbolize the momentary spark of live art. The ouroboros lives the moment of its birth as it gives birth to itself. It embodies both the idea and the vehicle as one autonomous, self-sufficient organ. The idea is the vehicle, the vehicle is the idea, and both are manifested in the body of the snake or the performer in an event with no end and no definite answer.
As the first night star appears, we will focus on performance art in various forms: acts, words, voice, and ceremony. Visitors can move around, watch and listen from near and far, and engage in discussions and learning. We invite anyone interested in performance art to join us on the Liebling Haus roof and celebrate our love for performance under the autumn night sky.
The evening What is Performance? marks the opening of Har, a small space for performances at Liebling Haus. Har will host performances, sound, and art, focusing on novelty and experimental work, exploration, and action. Har is part of Olympus, the study center for creators at Liebling Haus. Olympus offers unique, unusual, and often quite unconventional study programs that challenge creative habits and open new horizons. The study programs at Olympus require courage, dedication, openness, and equality.
