The Seasons Parade - A Tribute to Pina Bausch at the Liebling Haus
Autumn is at its peak, and we are getting ready to perform Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter - the legendary work of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. We begin by studying and practicing the dance movements in the workshop, then go out to perform on the beach in Tel Aviv. The performance, complete with Louis Armstrong’s original soundtrack, will be filmed and sent to Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch’s online project, Nelken-Line, where it will be featured together with other performances from around the world. “We forget where the movements come from - they are born of life.” Dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch (1940-2009) is one of the most important and influential modern dance creators. Bausch combined theater and dance, incorporating movements from daily life, facial expressions, text, and her dancers’ personal experiences. The dance company she founded and managed, Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, continues to perform her works around the world. “Lines” are a recurring characteristic element in many of Bausch’s pieces, with dancers performing sequences of repetitive steps and gestures while lining up in a long queue. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter - part of Nelken (Carnations, 1982) - is a line that represents the four seasons.
