Renzo Piano Studio: Film Screening + Visit to the Exhibition "Everything We've Learned So Far"
The Italian Cultural Institute and the School of the City invite you to an evening of architecture and space featuring a film screening and a tour of the exhibition "Everything We've Learned So Far."
Program:
19:00 Tour of the exhibition "Everything We've Learned So Far" with the participating artists and the works “From Square to Circle” and “Avocado.”
20:00 Gathering on the roof
20:30 Screening of the film “Inside Renzo Piano Building Workshop" | Italy | 2022 | 52 min.| Claudia Adragna and Davide Fois | English, French, Italian
The film introduces the working methods of renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano and his firm RPBW. Over 18 months, the film crew documented the practice as they planned five projects: the CERN Science Gateway in Geneva, École Normale Supérieure (ENS) Paris-Saclay, SNF Sparta General Hospital, and several other buildings. The film offers a rare glimpse into the studio where architecture is crafted—at the offices in Genoa and Paris, in meetings with clients and advisors, and at construction sites worldwide.
The exhibition "Everything We've Learned So Far" merges the realms of architecture, design, art, and performance, offering a range of events, educational activities, thoughts, ideas, and practices developed by the artist-instructors at the School of the City since its inception at Liebling Haus in 2017.
From Square to Circle
Netta Dabelsteen and Michal David
A cross-vaulted ceiling stands in a modern space characterized by clean lines, showcasing the dramatic transition between classical and modern architecture. The convergence of these two concepts reveals how architectural change impacts our experience of space. This room, designed with clean lines and a flat ceiling, features a striking cross-vaulted ceiling. The blend of two architectural styles within one area seeks to convey the transformative experience ushered in by modernism—the shift from classical to modern architecture. It highlights how architecture shapes our spatial experiences.
Avocado
Dana Mor
We will grow an avocado and observe it. We will watch the pit, its breaking, its growth, the vessel in which it develops, and the water. The avocado symbolizes art, creation, and learning—everyday processes that happen at every moment, place, and time—as long as we observe the environment, the conditions, and the details. As long as we experience. In search of an image for the school, the avocado stood in the room before us, containing the entire world—development, knowledge, air, and water. Alongside artworks, conversations, meetings, and actions, the avocado will grow, alongside all the knowledge we've gathered, what we haven't encountered, and the things we will never understand.
The event is a collaboration between the Italian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv and Liebling Haus.
