Between Habits and Habitations: A Conversation on Creative Processes with artist Meirav Heiman
"Fine" (2025), a video by artist Meirav Heiman, created during the war, depicts a family meal that spirals out of control, transforming into a spectacular and chaotic display of disaster. In this work, Heiman explores what we can hold onto when our immediate surroundings are under threat and in constant flux, questioning the meaning of domestic spaces intimes of crisis.
In this talk, we will explore the concept of home as a space of action in Heiman's works and examine how relationships between family members, interiors, and urban environments serve as tools in her creative process. The talkwill offer insights into her artistic practice and creative process.
We will also explore relationships and human rituals—where the fantastic meets the everyday within the domestic space—intimacy, sacrifice, and defamiliarization, and how these function as both destructive and healing forces.
