From the Research Lab: The Ethics of Reconstruction - the case of the Notre-Dame Cathedral
Notre-Dame de Paris, a 12-century World Heritage Site, is at the heart of our upcoming lecture. The recent dramatic fire in the cathedral triggered a worldwide debate about the ethics of reconstruction. Should we favor a newly-built, contemporary adaptation or preserve the original as a way to remember the past? Sharon Golan-Yaron, program director of the Liebling Haus is inviting Lindsay S. Cook, Ph.D. Assistant Teaching Professor of Art History, School of Art, Ball State University, foloowed by a conversation about the ethics of reconstruction with Dr. Jeremie Hoffmann, head of the Conservation Department of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality.
This event is in cooperation with the French Institute in Israel.
